A whole sunset poured into a cowboy hat — this genuine opalite cowboy hat pendant lays handmade opalite inlay in pink, purple, green, gold, and blue across a sterling silver hat, every tile flashing a different fire as the light moves.
Armando Bahena makes our opalite pieces by hand, and this hat shows his way of working: small pieces of handmade opalite — iridescent, handmade, not glass — are cut, fitted, and set side by side in sterling silver until the crown and brim read as one bright mosaic. The hat shape carries the Southwest with it: a high crown, a wide curved brim, and color where a felt hat would carry shadow.
Set it beside a silver-only hat pendant and the difference is the color: silver alone gives you the shape and stops there, while here every panel of the hat carries its own shifting color — rose at the brim tips, violet across the crown, green and gold between — so the piece changes as you move through the day. Beside a pendant built on one stone the difference runs the other way: one stone holds one color, while this inlay holds a whole row of them at once.
It wears like a small celebration: over a white tee and denim it does the whole outfit’s talking, and with a dress it keeps its western heart while the colors turn formal light playful. Rooted and radiant is the feeling — a hat you never have to hold onto in the wind, flashing pink and green each time you turn.
Here are its facts, exactly as its record carries them: sterling silver; handmade opalite inlay in many colors; pendant approximately 38.6 by 62.0 millimeters; pendant weight 18 grams and chain weight 12 grams on the record’s own lines; its record names the bezel surround Rope Sunset and Southwest Star, and the style western and bohemian. It is sold by chain: the Cuban Link chain (stock number GP1818, one counted at our Regul Boutique location) and the Rolo Oval Cable Link chain (stock number GP1819, counted at zero today under the record’s continue-selling policy, so it stays orderable). Two of the record’s own lines do not agree, and they stand stated as they are: its size line reads 13 inches while its includes line reads an 18-inch chain, and its inventory weight reads 0 pounds against the gram weights above. The piece is ours — Regul Silver, Fort Worth.
Opalite asks for gentle care: wipe the pendant with a soft, dry cloth, polish the silver on its own where you can, and keep it dry and away from perfume and sprays. Said honestly, the handmade part shows: the inlay tiles vary in color and fire from panel to panel, because a person cut and set each one, and fine seams of silver divide them — that is the maker’s hand in the piece, not a flaw in it.
Your pendant leaves Fort Worth packed snug in a small padded box, cushioned for the trip, with shipping figured at checkout. If it reaches you and is not right — the chain you chose, the colors of its inlay, the way it sits — write to eas@regulsilver.com within 30 days and we will take it back and make it right.
More of the same family waits nearby: the Necklaces shelf holds its company in pendants and chains, and the Opalite Jewelry collection carries the rest of Armando Bahena’s handmade color.
Come see its colors move in person at 1455 W Magnolia Ave, Suite 109, Fort Worth — we are open noon to six, Monday through Saturday — or write to eas@regulsilver.com and we will answer about this very pendant.
