Silver beads strung into a falling teardrop, one white pearl resting at the base of the loop - these navajo pearl earrings with baroque pearls carry the hand-strung beadwork of the Southwest down to a single uneven pearl that catches the light every time you turn.

The pair is handcrafted for Regul Silver, our own Fort Worth line, in the southwestern way its record names: a run of small round sterling beads is strung into the teardrop frame, larger oxidized Navajo pearl beads - the dark, satin-finished silver beads the Southwest is known for - are set along the bottom curve, and a white baroque pearl is seated at the center of each one, the whole loop hung from a clean hook.

Set them beside a clean silver hoop and the difference is the bottom curve: a hoop is one clean line and nothing more, while this teardrop gathers weight where it shows - dark beads, bright little beads above them, and the pearl glowing against both. Beside a stud there is no contest of sparkle either; the stud stays put, and these swing.

They are made for the woman who wears her silver with everything - a white shirt and jeans at the market, a black dress at supper - and wants one pair that answers both. The dark beads keep them rooted in western ground; the pearl lifts them, soft and radiant, a step above the everyday pair without ever dressing louder than she does.

Here are the facts, exactly as the record carries them: sterling silver; baroque pearls, one seated at the base of each teardrop, as the photos show; teardrop dangle form on hook fittings, as the photos show; dark oxidized bead finish, as the photos show; southwestern style; price $55.00; stock number 2812. The record carries no weight and no measurements for this pair, so none are stated here. The piece is ours - Regul Silver, Fort Worth.

Pearls and sterling silver set the care rules together, and they are gentle ones: wipe the pair with a soft, dry cloth, keep it dry, and store it apart so the pearls do not rub against harder pieces. Said plainly, the honest part: a baroque pearl is uneven by its nature - no two carry the same bumps, ridges, or glow - and the oxidized beads vary a shade in tone from bead to bead; that variation is what baroque means, and it is the handmade mark of this pair, not a flaw to polish away.

From our Fort Worth studio your pair travels packed snug for the trip, with shipping figured at checkout. If the pair reaches you and is not right - the drape, the beads, the pearl - email eas@regulsilver.com within 30 days of delivery and we will take it back and make it right.

More beadwork and silver waits nearby: the Earrings shelf holds this pair's company, and the Sterling Silver collection carries the wider silver family.

Come see the pearls against the light at 1455 W Magnolia Ave, Suite 109, Fort Worth - we are open noon to six, Monday through Saturday - or write to eas@regulsilver.com and we will answer about this very pair, with fresh photos if you want them.
